2. Eligibility and Use of the Website
To purchase prescription eyewear from Solara:
- You must be at least 16 years old and legally entitled to purchase prescription glasses in the UK.
- You confirm that you are not registered blind or partially sighted, and are not ordering on behalf of someone who is.
- You confirm that all information you provide (including prescription details, pupillary distance (PD), delivery address and contact information) is accurate, complete and up to date.
- All prescriptions must be issued by a qualified optician or medical practitioner following an eye examination within the last 24 months, or 12 months if you are aged 70 or over.
Our website and these Terms are designed for use within the United Kingdom and are governed by English law. While we may accept orders from outside the UK, we make no representation that ordering from outside the UK complies with local laws or regulations.
3. Prescriptions, Optical Information and Health Disclaimer
- We rely entirely on the prescription and PD information you provide.
- If you do not supply a PD measurement, you authorise us to use an average PD of 63mm to complete your order.
- You acknowledge that incorrect, incomplete or outdated prescription or PD details may result in unsuitable eyewear, for which Solara accepts no liability.
- Prescription lenses supplied by Solara are custom-made and are not branded lenses unless expressly stated.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order if:
- Prescription details are incomplete, unclear or outside safe glazing limits;
- The requested prescription exceeds manufacturing limitations; or
- A particular prescription and frame combination is not technically feasible.
4. Orders and Contract Formation
Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. A legally binding contract is formed only when your order has been accepted and dispatched.
We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order, including (but not limited to) cases of:
- Pricing or typographical errors;
- Stock availability issues;
- Failed or reversed payment authorisation;
- Suspected fraud; or
- Abusive or abnormal ordering or returns behaviour.
5. Pricing, VAT and Payment
- All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include UK VAT at the applicable rate unless otherwise stated.
- Prices and availability may change without notice.
- We reserve the right to cancel orders affected by pricing errors.
6. Delivery and Risk
- Orders are delivered to the address provided by you, usually via Royal Mail or an alternative courier.
- Delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
- Risk of loss or damage passes to you upon delivery.
You must notify us of non-delivery as soon as reasonably possible and in any event within 21 days of the estimated delivery date. If no notification is received within this period, the goods will be deemed delivered.
If an order is returned to us due to non-collection or incorrect address details, we reserve the right to charge for re-delivery.
7. International Orders, Customs and Duties
For orders delivered outside the UK, you may be liable for import duties, customs charges or local taxes. These charges are your responsibility.
If customs charges are refused or unpaid and the goods are returned or destroyed, we may be unable to issue a refund. Original delivery charges will not be refunded, and any costs incurred in returning the goods may be deducted from any refund due.
8. Returns and Exchanges (Solara Returns Promise)
Your statutory right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations allows you to cancel most online purchases within 14 days of delivery. In addition to this, Solara offers an extended 21-day returns policy, subject to the conditions below.
- You must notify us within 21 days of delivery if you wish to return an item.
- Prescription lenses are custom-made and cannot be reused or resold.
- Each customer is entitled to one prescription exchange per order.
- Following a completed exchange or refund, further prescription exchanges or refunds are limited to once every six months per customer.
- 100% of the frame cost will be refunded;
- 50% of the lens cost will be refunded.
- Be unused and returned in original condition with all accessories;
- Be sent using a tracked and insured service;
- Include the order number and reason for return.

Processing typically takes 5–7 working days from receipt. Delivery charges are non-refundable unless the item is faulty or incorrect.
9. Faulty or Incorrect Items
If you receive an item that is faulty or incorrect, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible. Where a fault is confirmed, we will offer a repair, replacement or full refund, including reasonable return postage.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
10. Promotions and Offers
- Promotions and discount codes cannot be combined unless stated otherwise.
- Where free or discounted lenses form part of a promotion, refunds will be adjusted in accordance with our Returns Policy.
11. Customer Conduct and Account Restrictions
Our services are intended for genuine personal use. We reserve the right to restrict, suspend or refuse service, returns or refunds in cases of:
- Abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour;
- Excessive or abnormal use of returns or exchanges; or
- Suspected misuse or fraud.
12. Intellectual Property and Website Use
All website content, including text, images, designs, logos and graphics, is the property of Solara Eyewear or its licensors. You must not copy, scrape, reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit any content without prior written consent.
13. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any matter which cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to the above:
- Solara is not liable for errors arising from incorrect prescription or PD details supplied by customers.
- We are not liable for delays, losses or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profits or savings.
14. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for delay or failure to perform our obligations due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, supply chain disruption, transport failure or telecommunications outages.
15. Assignment and Third-Party Rights
We may assign or subcontract our rights or obligations under these Terms. You may not do so without our written consent.
No third party has any right to enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
16. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Solara relating to your purchase.
17. Complaints
We aim to handle complaints fairly and efficiently and will endeavour to respond within 72 hours. Please contact us with your order number and full details of your concern.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by English law. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
